Editorial Standards
How we produce content for ChatYYC, how we distinguish human-written editorial from AI-generated answers, and how affiliate links are handled.
Two content types, clearly labelled
Every page on this site falls into one of two categories, and we label them so readers can judge reliability appropriately.
- Editorial guides. Human-authored, reviewed before publication, dated with a last-reviewed date, and attributed to a named editorial owner. These cite their sources.
- Assistant answers. Generated on demand by a language model in response to your question. Not reviewed by a person before you read them, and not published as pages.
How we write guides
- We explain how a system works rather than freezing numbers that change. Fares, fees, hours and program rules are set by policy and revised periodically, so quotes go stale and mislead readers who act on them.
- Where a detail is time-sensitive, we link to the official source instead of restating it. Every guide ends with the authoritative references it relies on.
- We prefer primary and official sources — municipal and agency websites, published policy and official notices — over aggregators and secondary coverage.
- We would rather publish nothing than publish filler. A city with no finished guides shows an honest empty state rather than thin, automatically generated pages.
Corrections
Guides carry a last-reviewed date. When we correct a factual error we update the guide and revise that date. If you believe something is wrong, contact us and we will investigate.
Advertising
We serve display advertising on pages with substantial editorial content. We do not serve ads on utility screens — privacy, terms, contact, error pages or the assistant itself — because those screens have no publisher content and advertising against them is not appropriate.
Advertisers have no influence over editorial content. We do not accept payment for coverage or for favourable treatment in a guide.
Outbound links
We do not use affiliate links. Outbound links to ticketing, reservation, tour and accommodation platforms are plain links: we receive no commission if you follow one or buy anything through it.
Accuracy and independence
- We do not sell editorial placement or accept payment for inclusion in a guide.
- We disclose commercial relationships rather than concealing them, including on the footer of every editorial page.
- We distinguish clearly between official information and our own commentary, and link out so readers can verify anything important.
